The attribute of undergraduate and post-graduate curriculum design and tactic of stimulating critical thought among learners is the key to their success and employment in the twenty-first century. So, learners need to understand different institutions' programme design and practice varies widely based on the perception of the faculty members designing it, which intends to give their scholars a competitive advantage in the job market. However, it is pragmatic that a perceptual gap always exists between the scholars and the B-School approach. For scholars, institutions or colleges are the gateways to enter industry and institution or college aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of the scholar so that they can sustain themselves in the industry. Mutually they are correct from their expectations perspective, but there are some missing parts in expectation and actual.

To me, scholars need to focus more on competency-based edification. Competency combines knowledge, attitude, skills, and habits (KASH Illustration: Figure I). Recently education program's missing parts are attitude and practices. Competency-based education (CBE) is the edification approach that influences learners' attitudes, develop fundamental habits, and orients them towards meaningful learning through the cognitive stimulus and enhancement of application ability. Any specialised courses or programs are not an example of CBEs. Achieving a degree, diploma, or certification reflects the learner's strong knowledge and proficiency (skill level) in the specific domain. However, one gets actual industrial ultimatum experience when one encounters challenges of dealing with people's behaviour and the habits that will help accomplish reverie. Our recent program designs lack indoctrinating cheerful attitudes and practices among the learners. To be more specific following attitudes and practises are never part of the preaching Indian learners
- being human
- being humble
- being perceiver
- being observer
- being frugal
- being resilience
- being agile
- being apologetic
- being forgive full
- being conservationist
- being spiritual
- being socialised
- being possessor
The lack of such attitudinal and habitual attributes has twisted the sustainability hitch for industry, organisations, and workforces. Existing institutions and colleges are busy imparting knowledge and skills. They should also focus on transforming, bearing in mind specific mechanisms and teaching approaches that can preach essential attitudes and practices. In CBE, preaching is more important than teaching, including mentoring, coaching, and counselling. Therefore, the approach to imparting education, specifically at the Masters level, should be reviewed, restructured, and reformed.
Institutions and colleges are still struggling with designing CBE for learners to develop a future-ready and competitive corporate advantage. Please let me know how we can do this?
